Physical DescriptionSilver and wood frame. Circular holder with vertical sides made up of vertical lengths of silver wire, with bands of twisted wires at top and bottom, with grape vines and grapes scrolling around the outside; an oval panel with engraved script initials "WW" on the front; on three feet formed of leaves and grapes; wood base; a tall handle bolted through the wood base, with cylindrical tube and five-pointed star at the bottom; beaded and scrolled loop handle using from a swirled baluster at the top of the stem; hallmarked on the base, at the side: makers mark (indecipherable), lion passant, crowned leopard's head, and gothic date letter "L" (for 1766-7); the handle bears the lion passant hallmark.Provenance
