Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown (window glass), painted. flat, standing rectangular shape, with wood top and sides, holding three rectangular glass sheets; the top and bottom wood panels rectangular, with molded edges; eyes in the edges, with wire running through the eyes to keep the parts together; the sides flat and rectangular, with molded quarter-rounds at the corners; each side with three cut vertical grooves on the inner faces; each groove with a loose-fitting rectangular sheet of glass; the front glass sheet painted on the front and reverse sides; on the front surface, a spit of grass-covered land extending from the right, with nine cows and a woman on it, a short length of fence inscribed "H.S. 1776", and a tree; water in the foreground and to the left side, with a man rowing a boat from the left; on the reverse face, a tall tree at the left, and bushes in the foreground; on the second sheet of glass, a city at the left, with church, houses, windmill, and trees; water in the foreground and in the center, a small skiff with a man, and two small sailboats in the center; another spit of land at the right, with a small house; on the third sheet, an area of land with another church with tower and a windmill, and another area of wooded land on the right; the back of the third sheet covered with a translucent matte grey paint, mottled to look like a cloudy sky; nails on the wood sides with wire loops, probably originally hooks to latch the top securely onto the sides; nails in the bottom, into the wood sides.
