Physical DescriptionReddish amber glass; mold-blown; plain lip, pontil mark. Obverse: Masonic arch, pillars and pavement, twenty-two widely spaced bricks. Within arch "Farmer's Arms", sheaf of rye, pitchfork, shovel, rake, sickle, axe and scythe. Sheaf of rye, points to right instead of left; beneath pavement elaborate scroll ornament. Reverse: American Eagle, head turned to right; shield with seven vertical bars on breast; wings partly raised, right foreshortened. Thunderbolt (five arrows) in its right talons, olive branch in left. Eagle stands on oval frame with inner band of twenty-six small pearls and containing word "OHIO". Sun rays surround eagle's head and above rays in semi-circle "ZANESVILLE"; in semi-circle beneath oval frame "J. SHEPARD & CO"; the "S" is reversed. Edges: vertically ribbed.
