Physical DescriptionMasonic or Eagle Flask. Brilliant light green glass; blown-molded; plain lip, pontil mark. Obverse: Masonic decoration; from a mosaic pavement rise two columns surmounted by archway with Keystone in center. Beneath Keystone radiant all-seeing eye and between columns radiant triangle enclosing the letter "G" and above it open book with square and compasses. At left of archway blazing sun and beneath at left of column trowel, skull and crossbones and scythe. Scythe points to right; at right of archway crescent moon surrounded by seven small stars and beneath, comet with tail; below pavement at right, beehive. Reverse: American Eagle, head turned to left; shield with vertical bars and small dots representing stars on breast; wings partly raised and right foreshortened. Thunderbolt (three arrows) in eagle's left talons, olive branch in right. Plain ribbon above eagle; beneath eagle oval frame with heavy beading and containing letters "NEG Co". On nearly every specimen the "O" is so faint as to be practically indiscernible. Specimens are also encountered where there is scarcely a trace of any of the letters. Edges: vertically ribbed.Provenance
