Physical DescriptionFragment of Bowl with Bird. Transparent very pale yellowish green; decorated in brown. Blown; stained. Fragment of bowl. Bottom of wall (Th. 0.2 cm) tapers; base has tubular foot-ring made by folding and with concave underside, with corresponding dome in floor; pontil mark roughly circular (D. about 1.3 cm). Decorated on both sides. On interior: lower wall has traces of indeterminate ornament, and floor has concentric roundel with border (W. 0.4 cm and external D. about 6-7 cm). On underside of base (when seen from interior): bird, facing right; head, in profile, is round, with long beak holding small, bulbous object, and plain ring and brown dot representing eye; short neck; small body; outspread wings, shown almost frontally, with long primary and short secondary feathers; wedge-shaped tail; and two straight legs with feet. Between front foot and one wingtip, small trefoil leaf on short stem. Bird and trefoil are solid brown, with yellowish patches.Provenance
