Physical DescriptionFragment of Beaker. Colorless; decorated in gold, red, white, blue, and greenish gray. Blown; gilded, enameled; stained. Fragment of beaker. Upper wall (Th. 0.1-0.15 cm) is straight and tapers. Decorated on both sides. On outside: small part of register and lower border, which consists of three narrow red lines enclosing, above, row of very small white dots, and, below, gilded band; surviving part of register has roundel (D. 1.8 cm) bordered by thin red line and band of gilding; it contains lion with red and gilded outline and white body; lion is in left profile, with head turned toward viewer, both right legs raised, and long, curving tail; roundel is surrounded by small gilded elements with red outlines, on blue background. On inside, behind roundel: circular patch of transparent greenish gray stain, which provides dark background for lion.
