Physical DescriptionClear glass with many bubbles and a few impurities, slight pink tint; wear marks at base; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Almost cylindrical body slightly tapering at top and bottom, pushed up base with rough pontil mark, applied foot ring; enamel decoration: on the obverse the coat of arms of the wool weavers guild with three spindles arranged in triangular order against a blue background and topped by a crown; the shield is flanked by two rampant lions; on the reverse a flower and leaf stalk consisting of broad leaves and small blue blossoms, surmounted by a large red ball-like blossom or bowl, containing the fleece for the weaver; above the shield, the date: "ANNO 1691"; the inscription along the upper part of the frieze reads: "Es lebe das Lobl(iche) Handtwerk der Wollenweber in Lichtenstein, Wer mich ausz Trinck zu ieder Zeit denn gesegne uns die Heylige Dreyfaltig(keit)." (May the noble craft of the weavers in Lichtenstein live. Who drinks me out all the time will be blessed by the Holy Trinity.); above the left lion a monogram: "D L F" (?); below the rim a gilded band accompanied by three white lines and two U-shaped lines ;below the frieze five lines in yellow, red and blue; white dashes on the foot ring; on the base an old catalogue number in red: "82-55(?)".Provenance
