Interpretive Notes
The base of this lamp features a pattern of peacock feathers created in Favrile glass. The lamp is rare because of its blown glass base, which makes it more fragile than a lamp with a metal base. When the lamp arrived at the Museum, it was severely broken, and it was reassembled in our Conservation Laboratory over several months. Visit the Study Gallery to see a video of our conservator repairing the lamp.
Physical DescriptionMulti-colored glass; blown, tooled, applied, assembled. Lamp has wide foot and rises to high narrow shoulder, with a large round off-white shade with lily-pad design and a colorless chimney. Lamp has been electrified and has a brown chord and socket for small bulb.
