Interpretive Notes
Pairpoint, which had long been noted for the quality of its silver plate, showcased its skill in creating metal mounts for some of the objects in its Fine Arts line. Three grades of silverware were offered. The patterns employed by the firm’s cutters and engravers ranged from simple yet elegant geometric styles to “Buckingham,” with its elaborate flourishes.
Physical DescriptionColorless glass; blown, tooled, engraved, assembled; onyx, silver-plated metal. Tall conical shaped vase that narrows at shoulders then flares to rim. The vase sits in a silver colored, circular, metal foot atop a white and brown block of stone that sits in a square mount with four claw feet.
