Physical DescriptionPair of Late 19th Century Bohemian Candlesticks. Colorless, red and green glass; blown, pressed, cut, applied beads, enamel, and gilding; assembled. Very large candlestick with tall colorless hurricane decorated with a gilded and enameled scene of a lion holding a sword and the sun rising over it's back (the emblem of Iran). The candlestick itself consists of a metal cup, a gilded and decorated glass cup atop a large bobesch also gilded and decorated with 12 large hanging prisms around the edge atop the main stem of the candlestick which is also cut, gilded, and decorated with applied green and red beads resembling precious stones. The top of the foot is decorated with 6 large red glass "stones" cut to resemble large rubies.Provenance
