Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with yellowish tinge; few very small bubbles. Blown; relief-cut.Fragment of bowl. Lower wall (Th. 0.15 cm) descends in shallow curve; base flat (Th. 0.4 cm with decoration, 0.2 cm without decoration), with foot-ring (H. 0.4 cm), which has narrow, notched rim. Underside of base decorated in relief with animal, shown in profile, facing left, which fills area defined by foot-ring. Animal’s head has countersunk eye, mouth indicated by single short cut, and horn (of which only tip survives); neck is curved, narrow, and hatched with parallel transverse incisions; countersunk body has notched outlines and haphazard arrangement of six drilled dots; foreleg, indicated by single notched line, points forward and terminates in oval hoof with two parallel incisions; hind leg, which has roughly comma-shaped haunch and is indicated by single notched line, points forward and downward, and also terminates in oval hoof with parallel incisions; long tail, also indicated by single notched line, curls forward and up, and ends in bulbous tassel. Entire background of animal shows signs of coldworking.Provenance
