Physical DescriptionBeaker with Greek Inscription. Transparent pale green glass with many minute bubbles; blown in three-part mold. Cylindrical beaker; rim slightly outsplayed, unworked, but ground; straight side, which slopes sharply inward at bottom; low footring. Decoration on side produced on two parts of mold, base, including ring, produced on third part; on side: frieze divided into two equal parts by vertical palm fronds, diametrically opposed, running from top to bottom; frieze contains (a) two horizontal ribs, (b) four palm fronds, in pairs, tops inward, touching, (c) inscription "KATAXAIPE KAI EYFPAINOY" ('Rejoice and be merry') in Greek, the last two words written as one; (d) two more horizontal ribs; (e) continuous herringbone pattern.
