Physical DescriptionColorless with grayish-green tint where glass is thickest; body and base of neck blown in four-part mold; rim finished at glory hole. Bottle: square with corners removed. Flat, everted rim with rounded lip; cylindrical neck with bulge at bottom; rounded shoulder, which overhangs upper part of wall; wall descends vertically and then splays before curving in toward bottom; splayed foot is circular when viewed from below, and concave underneath; no pontil mark. Mold-blown relief decoration on bulge at base of neck, shoulder, upper part of wall, lower part of wall, and base. On bulge: continuous cable motif. On shoulder: four badges, one on each side: (clockwise) caduceus (?), anchor entwined with rope, balance with scale pans and two crossed scepterlike objects, and wreath with ribbons. On upper part of body, four busts in profile, one on each side: male facing left with plumed helmet, male facing left, balding, wearing high collar and coat, female facing right with hair gathered in knot or bun at back of head, female facing right with hair gathered in knot at back of head. On lower part of body: no decoration beneath figure with helmet, identical spray of oak leaves with one acorn on other three sides. On base: two horizontal bands of boses (above) and cable (below).Provenance
