Physical DescriptionClear glass with strong amber tinge and a few impurities; free- blown, pattern-molded, tooled, with applied latticinio decoration. (a) Conical foot with thickened rim and slight pontil mark, composite stem consisting of a vertically ribbed inverted baluster supported by a solid spool and surmounted by a cushioned blade knop, the bowl consists of a series of bulges increasing in diameter towards slightly flaring rim; (b) flanged, domed cover curving into another series of three bulges decreasing in diameter towards the finial which consists of a cushioned flattened knop with button-like applied top; the bowl may have been patterned in a vertically ribbed mold, baluster stem and knop finial have been patterned in a vertically ribbed mold, bowl and cover each have 15 applied opaque white vertical lines which at the bulges are almost in full relief; the threads seem to have been applied free hand, the bulges of bowl and cover seem to have been formed by tooling; the latticinio threads form high elevations on the inside of the bowl and cover seem to have been formed by tooling; the latticinio threads form high elevations on the inside of the bowl and the cover, pontil marks are visible at the interior center of the bowl and cover.Provenance
