Interpretive Notes
Bonded reproduces a tangled ball of belts in glass to explore the power dynamics of desire and sexuality. Their movement arrested, her glass belts allow us to consider the power associated with leather belts—their ability to whip, tie, and bind—from a safe distance.
Physical DescriptionSculpture, "Bonded". Opaque black Muranese glass, metal belt buckles; hot-worked. (a-h) Large opaque black glass and metal belt buckle sculpture formed to look like a large clump of interwoven belts with two belts hanging down vertically; (i) custom-made table.
