Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, lead; blown (sheet glass) segments, enameled and stained, leaded together. Flat, rectangular panel, made up of several parts leaded together; depicting a man in blue shirt hose and blue jacket with cuffs at the neck and wrists, brown outer coat, wearing a brown hat with broad brim and white ostrich feather, holding a halberd in his outstretched left hand, his right hand resting on a dagger in his belt, a long sword in his belt at his left; a woman standing at the right, offering a goblet to the man, wearing a red and green dress with white panel at the front, the lower part decorated with black scrollwork, clutching a purse, keys, and a set of knife and forks in her left hand; cuffs at her neck and wrists; a balustrade in the background, columns at either side; inscribed monogram "HI" below the balustrade, below the man; a panel at the bottom with two shields, one at the left with a merchant mark in white on a blue background with scrollwork details, the shield at the right with a steer on green ground, against a gray, scroll-decorated background; the segment between the shields inscribed in black German letters "Jossesst Scha|rer Im Sid / wald alter Sechelmeister / und Marget Ha|flige sin / egemaher / 1617"; a red bar in two sections above the two figures, with a continuous panel at the top depicting the making of cheese, from heating the milk in a cauldron at the left, whipping it at the center, and sampling wheels of cheese at the right.
