Physical DescriptionPipe, "Hot Rod Derby Car #2". Mold-blown and sculpted borosilicate glass, rubber, paint, enamel, fiber, mixed media. Functional pipe in the form of a hollow colorless flameworked car with red waxed cotton thread wrapped in various places. Car has a black and colorless grill with flameworked bald eagle and two conical black and colorless headlights with diamond-patterning (one with pinkish tinge and one with yellowish tinge). Four black rubber tires with red rims and inverted bottlecap hubcabs, each framing a US quarter, are mounted to the colorless glass undercarriage with springs; the undercarriage has been painted with black and silver Testor paints. A rectangular red-, white-, and yellow-striped license plate reading "WOODY" applied to back. A flameworked rider with rubber boots, exposed midriff, red fabric bandana, black mohawk with red and yellow tips, and the Anarchy symbol on one side of his head is riding the car with an exaggerated facial expression. The rider holds a colorless and black steering wheel in one hand and an 8-ball gear stick attached to a spring in the other hand. Colorless bowl (b) and mouthpiece (c) are removable.Provenance
