Physical DescriptionEwer. Colorless non-lead glass, blown and cut; ovoid body with tall, tapering neck and flared rim, the body with a band of sharp diamonds around the mid-body, a band of slanted cuts and fans above, horizontal miter cuts below, vertical bands of diagonal cuts on the neck, the rim with radial cuts; the neck ground for stopper; waisted at the base, with spreading, panel-cut foot, with radial cuts on the bottom and polished pontil mark; applied loop handle with notched cuts on the back; applied S-shaped tapering spout with fine cut slanted facets on either side; elaborately mounted in somewhat crude silver (although the flowers are expertly and minutely done); the rim mounted with a cut silver covering and screw cap (pewter?), attached with a fine silver chain to the handle with pendant stylized floral design below the rim; the handle mounted with silver foliage and flowers; the spout similarly mounted with foliage and flowers and a silver animal-head fitting on the spout; a ring of stylized foliage around the neck above the foot; the rim of the foot mounted with a band of silver prongs.
