Physical DescriptionWalking Stick Telescope. Rosewood, ebony, plated brass, iron, glass; lathe woodwork, optical grinded glass, assembled components. Walking stick with rosewood shaft, ebony handle, plated brass fittings and eye shutter, and iron tip, which unscrews. The stick is hollow with an erect-image optical system running the full length. The objective holder may be slid outwards to focus, and the multi-element eyepiece system may be withdrawn. (a) Rosewood shaft; (b) multi-element eyepiece system, which connects with handle; (c) silver collar; (d) ebony handle; (e) objective holder, which is held in place by iron tip; (f) iron tip with threaded brass collar.
