Physical DescriptionClear cristallo with only slightly greyish tint; mould-blown, enameled and gilt decoration. Beaker of slightly bulging cylindrical shape, with gently “kicked” domed base, round which a self-coloured cordon of glass has been laid and then notched probably with tweezers. In the apex of the foot is the trace of a pontil-mark. The beaker is decorated for about two-thirds of its height with ribbing mould-blown on a second gather, the twelve ribs then being pinched together alternately to form a rough mesh design in two complete registers (nipt-diamond-waies). Within the lozenges of the mesh have been painted circles of six flower-heads resembling lilies of the valley surrounding a central dot, the colors used, in various combinations, being brownish-red, pale blue and white. Above the tops of the ribs runs a horizontal border of green S-shaped “leaves” on either side of a horizontal red line, this being interrupted at four points by the same motif as fills the rib-lozenges. Below the rim is a simple gilt band, the lower edge of which has been scratched into square lappets, the upper part originally overlaid with a single row of pale blue dots (mostly fallen away), while below this border is a row of white dots laid on the glass. There are traces of gilding on the ribs.
