Physical DescriptionClear bubbly glass with many impurities and slight grey tinge; free-blown, pattern-molded, enameled and gilded. Pedestal foot with underfolded rim and rough pontil mark, cushioned, flattened knop stem, lower body is stepped and increasing in diameter toward bulging and plain upper part tapering to flaring rim; the lower body has been patterned in a mold, with four steps or ribs; enamel decoration: on the plain upper section of the body a boar hunting scene, taking place on a slightly hilly grass strip with large grass tufts, a hunter in a blue coat and a green cap, driving a spear toward the right into a boar lying on his back, the boar being attacked by one dog while two other dogs proceeding to the left follow the first one; two trees; above the scene the date, "1598" (the one looking like a 5); pairs of yellow and blue lines on the ribs on the lower body, the last rib having a single yellow line; below rim a gilded band (partly rubbed off) accompanied by three rows of white beads.
