Physical DescriptionTranslucent, speckled, pale whitish-green glass ground and various translucent and opaque glasses for the design; worked over a copper form (later removed) in cloisonne technique. From a concave neck with silver rim the contour slopes downward to shoulder, then, slightly curved, tapers to base; intricate colorful design of mythological, phoenix-like bird, the Ho-o-, flying with spread wings among floral and leaf sprays and tendrils; predominant colors, often gradated, include orange, light green, pale purple, blues and yellow; cloisons, separating and enclosing the various colors, are minute strips of silver; flat base, covered and rimmed with silver.Provenance
