Physical DescriptionTransparent pale green glass; body blown in mold, rim finished at glory hole, handle applied. Body with eight or nine sides; rim everted, folded upward and inward to make tubular edge; cylindrical neck, splaying slightly toward bottom; shoulder flat or locally depressed with rounded edge; vertical wall; base plain with kick; circular pontil scar on sides of kick; handle, which is wider at bottom than at top, dropped onto edge of shoulder, drawn upwards in three ribs, bent inward, and attached to underside of rim with residue drawn over edge of rim and folded upward and outward; on underside of base, molded inscription of eleven Greek capitals arranged in concentric circle, in low relief: (1) iota, (2) iota, (3) alpha, (4) rho, (5) eta, (6) iota, (7) omicron, (8) rho, (9) iota, (10) omicron, (11) upsilon. Letters (1), (2), (6) and (9) may be incomplete and might, therefore, be tau.
