Physical DescriptionTransparent pale green slightly bubbly glass with few impurities; wear marks on inside and out; free-blown, enameled and gilded, with applied decoration. Spherical body with slightly pushed-up base having rough pontil mark and with wide cylindrical neck; foot ring applied to base, band-like loop handle applied to shoulder and neck; pewter cover with "A.S.T." engraved on top and with knop-like thumbrest, hinged to pewter collar fastened to handle; enameled and gilded decoration: multicolored frieze around shoulder consisting of six white arcades resting on blue and yellow columns and framing two burning hearts with a pelican feeding its young with its blood, on the left and right a couple, the man (in grey) holding a goblet and above him: "ANNO 1692" the woman (in red and yellow) holding an apple and above her: "VIVAT Gott mit uns"; the remaining arcades contain two flower stalks and ornament including white crosshatched diamonds, star-rosettes and spirals; the green strip has vining lilies-of-the-valley; around the neck an inscription: "VIVAT Mein Schatz in gesandcheit, mein und Dien, also bleibe bei, Gemuede und frischem Gebluette"; below rim a gilded band (rubbed off) accompanied by a row of white beads; below the main frieze two rings in red and yellow and a white reversed U-shaped line; dashes on foot ring, gilded handle (rubbed off); two rows of gilded raspberry prunts applied to lower body, thin thread applied to neck at border of frieze and inscription.
