Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, molded, cut, gilt, engraved. Triangular shape, with cut corners; tapered, straight sides; gilt rim; triangular faces richly engraved with scenes related to wine: one, showing pickers loading grapes into a cart, vineyards on hills in the background; another, showing grapes being poured into a vat on legs, while a man tramples them; the third, showing a cellar, with two men at a table, one asleep, the other draining a tankard, with stacked barrels at the side; areas below the scene filled with baskets of fruit and flowers, scrolls, ribbands, shells, etc.; narrow corner panels with engraved baskets of fruit, scrolls and hangings; disk foot with faceted rim; polished pontil mark.Provenance
