Physical DescriptionPurple-red ice glass and clear glass, blown. Straight-sided, sub-conical beaker with slightly widened, fire-polished rim and applied colorless foot-trail; kicked-in base with rough pontil mark. Paper label on bottom: “Baron L. Rothschild.” The ice glass effect was achieved by marvering-in fragments of glass onto a parison that had not reached its final size. After the marvering, the glass was further blown. The heating and tooling of the rim has almost removed the ice-glass effect. There is no evidence that the fragments of glass are different than the base glass; i.e., the color of this glass is not an overlay.
