Physical DescriptionColorless glass; bottle blown and tooled; stopper tooled; both ground and polished. (a) short vessel with wide body; rim outsplayed with rounded lip; short cylindrical neck which splays at bottom and merges with shoulder; wall with sloping shoulder with rounded edge, below which it curves downward and slightly outward to bottom; flat base with small concavity at center, presumably where pontil mark was removed by grinding and polishing; scratched signature on bottom, near edge: "Steuben" in cursive script; (b) spherical knop above short cylindrical stem with disk-shaped molding; tapering toward bottom, with bevel at junction with base, flat underside; scratched on bottom: "S" or "5".
