Interpretive NotesThe sensuous juxtaposition of materials is characteristic of Dana Vachtová’s work. The full, fluid blown shapes of The Elements I spill over the sharp edges of its rigid metal base, like water flowing over rocks. Vachtová invites the viewer to visually compare these materials, noting the flexibility and lightness of the glass in contrast to the hardness and seeming immovability of the metal base.
