Physical DescriptionGreenish yellow transparent, with bluish green transparent trail glass; body blown in mold with two vertical sections; applied. Pitcher with globular body. Rim outsplayed, with tubular edge made by folding up, in, and down, pinched to form trefoil mouth; neck cylindrical, wider at bottom than top; trace of annular pontil mark. Body decorated in relief with four horizontal bands of ornament; mold sections, however, have different motifs and bands are not aligned. Side one (from top to bottom): narrow band of ribs, which are vertical at center, but slanting at sides, with circular knob in triangles between outermost ribs, bottom, and mold seams; slightly deeper band with zigzag running from side to side enclosing 10 triangles, one of which (near right mold seam) is bisected by additional raised line; deeper again, comprising four square or rectangular compartments containing, from left to right, two transverse lines, two lines running from mid-point of sides to near center of top, with circular knob between them, two lines running between corners to form cross, and five transverse lines; band of ribs, which are vertical at center, but slanting at sides. Side two (again, from top to bottom) narrow band of ribs, which are vertical at center, but slanting at sides; deep band divided into two rectangular compartments containing (on left) asymmetrical pattern of transverse lines and (on right) four squares containing transverse lines and circular bosses; narrow band comprising square and rectangular compartments containing transverse lines and raised dots; band of ribs, which are vertical at center but slanting at sides. Applied decoration on rim: short trail on each side of pouring lip and continuous horizontal trail on outside, just below edge.Provenance
