Physical DescriptionTransparent deep blue glass; cast; lathe- and wheel-cut; polished. Two groups of fragments from cup with ovoid body; rim ground and polished; wall curves inward to form semi-ovoid body. Two vertical handles at rim are cut with long horizontal thumb-rests with concave sides; elaborate scrolls on either side of handles; angular offset ridges on exterior surfaces of finger notes; undersides of lower rests beveled along axes. Each group of fragments comes from vicinity of handle, below which are elaborate relief-cut volutes. Decoration on either side of body consists of scene with narrow ground line: (a) beardless youth with naked torso sits or reclines on draped couch facing left, resting on his left arm, with the right arm bent and with a scepter or staff-like object in the right hand; (b) male with naked torso, perhaps with long flowing hair, sits or reclines on draped couch, also facing left, resting on left arm.Provenance
