Interpretive Notes
The Blaschkas used preformed parts when they created some of their models. These parts include anemone bodies, sea jelly domes, and the central disks of sea stars. The Blaschkas used many different techniques to achieve great variety in shape, size, color, and ornate detail.
Physical DescriptionPart of Glass Model of Marine Animal. Colorless glass, paper, adhesive, orange paint; flameworked, painted assembled. Waisted glass form with orange paint applied to exterior wall; open at both ends. Light-colored paper with vertical orange stripes fixed inside glass form to create an inner "wall"; ends of paper are fringed. Paper "wall" sealed in place with a piece of paper glued to base of glass; paper has several small holes punched near its center
