Physical DescriptionColorless, opaque white, translucent olive, translucent violet glasses; red and yellow enamel; gilding; blown; colorless gather decorated with streaks of white and violet, inflated and cased with colorless; colorless overlaid with violet and green; handle applied; acid-etched; enameled and gilded; base perhaps ground and polished. Miniature pitcher: rim rounded with pouring lip made by manipulating hot glass; wall curves downward and inward to narrow constriction; truncated conical foot, which is hollow with diaphragm at constriction; base flat underneath. Handle dropped on to top of wall opposite pouring lip and pulled outward, downward and inward, and attached around mid-point. Decoration in low relief: on body, against matte, acid-etched background which appears grayish white with streaks of white and violet seen through colorless overlay, leaves and three stems of violet; clockwise from below pouring lip, stem supporting green bud or seed pod, open flower seen from side, and open flower with spot of yellow and red at center; on foot, gilded against deep violet background, four arcs, each containing leaf-like motif, with triangular geometric motif in each spandrel. Mark on base: in gold, two lines of cursive script, "Daum"/ Cross of Lorraine "Nancy".
