Interpretive Notes
Many Burmese pieces were produced in unusual or complicated shapes, with elaborate applied decoration. Despite their lack of enameled or gold decoration, they were the most expensive items on the company’s price list.
Physical DescriptionBurmese Candlestick. Lead glass, acid finish Burmese, translucent pale lemon-yellow shading to pink; mold-blown; ribbed spheroid socket with flaring flat scalloped rim, attached by yellow merese to center of saucer bobêche with upright scalloped rim, attached by double merese to diamond-diapered baluster shaft, applied ribbed domed foot with flaring underfolded rim, smooth base; socket, bobêche and shaft, shaded -- yellow into pink; merese and foot, yellow.
