Physical DescriptionOpaque very dark purple, appearing black in reflected light (matrix); colorless and opaque yellow, light green, red, white and very dark purple (inlays). Probably cast; then inlaid, and ground and polished. Fragment of dish or bowl. Lower wall or floor curves down and in. Inner surface inlaid with motifs that resemble parts of plants: (1-3) three narrow green "leaves," (4) one yellow, black, and green "stem," (5-6) two green and white elements, (7-8) two flowers, each consisting of cane slice with red center and seven white petals in purple matrix, (9-10) two "buds," each with stripes that are yellow at bottom and white at top, and which alternate with narrow colorless stripes, and (11) "bud" with red, yellow and colorless stripes. Inner (but not outer) surface has traces of rotary polishing.
