Physical DescriptionColorless; very few bubbles. Blown; relief-cut. Goblet with truncated conical bowl. Rim plain; wall straight and tapering, with narrow horizontal flange at bottom; base curves down and in; stem cylindrical. Wall is relief-cut with continuous frieze bordered by horizontal rib at top and flange at bottom. Frieze contains three apparently identical birds of prey shown in left profile, but with head turned to right. Each bird has small head with prominent eye and curved beak, short neck, and body and thick tail with rounded end, both defined by single continuous outline; one vestigial wing, extended above body, ends in half-palmette; other wing consists of single curving line in front of body, which terminates in leg with triangular foot; other leg, also with triangular foot, is just behind it. Some outlines are notched; body and tail, and some details, have drilled circular depressions. Above and behind each bird, short inscription in Kufic style and single hook-shaped motif. Inscriptions are: (1)“ ”, (2) “ ”, and (3) “ ”(baraka …iyya ra c i…;[Perpetual?] blessing . . . [?] protection).
