Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, colored foil decoration, zwischengoldglas. Tapered straight-sided shape with cut vertical panels; formed of two closely fitting glasses, the outer ending below the rim of the inner; decoration sandwiched between the two: a plain gilt band at the top, coat of arms in an oval panel, with flanking palm fronds, with a cardinal's mitre and crosier above, inscribed "QMAA" and a black bishop's hat above; in an oval pink-tinted frame surrounded by elaborate foliate scrolls tinted green, pink and yellow; on the reverse, four angels in elaborate foliate scrolls and vines, with fruit, birds, and interlaced scrolls; silver line below, band of gold acanthus leaves at the base; inset circular plaque in the bottom, decorated with a gold urn of flowers and foliage, against a transparent red ground; inscribed "39" in red paint on the bottom.Provenance
