Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, enameled. Cylindrical shape, with trailed foot ring; sides decorated in polychrome enamel: a man dressed in a grey coat, holding yellow gloves and a walking staff, gestures toward a woman wearing lace bonnet, white collar, grey, blue and white dress, with carpenter's tools between; inscribed in white "Nicolaus: Bostler/A.nno: 1700." and "Gott und Mutter zu aller Frist, kunnen Helffen/war hungerich ist: darumb soll betten/Ein ist er mann, weil gott und mutter/helffen kann"; an elaborate floral spray on the reverse, with cross-hatched red- and-yellow and blue-and-white thistle- like flowers, lily-of-the-valley, and another red flower and green leaves; cross-hatched yellow band above the scene, flanked by red, white and blue lines, and a white wavy band; green and white lines at the bottom; slight kick with rough pontil mark.
