Physical DescriptionColorless (tan) non-lead glass; blown, enameled, gilt. Straight-sided, cylindrical form, with enameled and gilt decoration on the sides; gilt (rubbed) border below the rim, with rows and pyramids of green, red and white enamel dots, the gold with scratched scale and linear decoration, flanked by rows of white and blue dots; sides decorated with a continuous landscape and two scenes, one with several people being guided from a fiery furnace by an angel, while several soldiers lie, overcome by the flames, in the foreground, while several people, including a crowned king, look on at the right; inscribed above ".SEHE.ICH.DOCH.VIER./.MENNER.LOS.IM.FEV:/ER.GEHEN.VND. SIND./.VNVERSEERT.DANIEL./.III."; on the reverse, the figure of a man in blue, green and red robes, praying in the midst of six yellow, tan and white lions, inscribed above ".DANIEL.DANIEL.NIM/.HIN.DAS.ESSEN.DAS/.DIR.GOT. GESANT.HAT./.IM.STVCK./DANI/EL.", with an angel carrying a man with a bucket, above Daniel; a fleur-de-lis separates the two inscriptions; yellow, red and blue lines below; trailed foot rim, sheathed in a pewter rim; concave base with large rough pontil mark.Provenance
