Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Bell-shaped bowl; cut vertical panels and raised panels with curved outlines; engraved diaperwork and scrolled foliage on the vertical panels, the curved panels outlined with dotted framing bands, enclosing, in one, a crowned coat of arms, divided vertically, an eagle on the left, three fleur-de-lis on the right, with scrolls, flowers and foliage in the background; on two small panels, a woman in a swing; on the fourth panel, a man and woman, with a cupid on an altar at the right; stem with a capstan section at top, with engraved rounded panels, vertical grooves and dots; ovoid knop with cut vertical flutes; capstan at the base with cut grooves and dots; domed foot with cut ribs on the dome and engraved stylized flowers; four-lobed foot, with engraved scrollwork; engraved logo "JlL/M" incorporated in the design. (b) Domed form, with flared rim and inset brim; cut raised ribs on the dome, with engraved scrollwork; engraved scrolls and foliage on the rim; tall, ovoid finial with tiny ball on top; the finial with cut vertical flutes; attached to the cover with a capstan section, with engraved lines and dots; polished rim (no pontil mark).
