Physical DescriptionOpaque white non-lead glass; blown, enameled. (a) Thistle-shape bowl on an inverted baluster stem; bowl with polychrome enamel decoration of an oval panel with half-length portrait of a man wearing a pink coat, red-orange vest and black hat, in a shell and floral frame; floral sprays on the reverse and in a band near the base of the bowl; cross-hatched red-orange band below the rim; red-orange dashes on the stem; domed and folded foot, floral sprays on the foot; rough pontil mark on the underside. (b) Flattened, domed shape with folded rim and inset brim; decorated with scattered floral sprays, red-orange dashes on the rim; applied pointed ovoid finial with enameled blue dashes; rough pontil mark on the inside.Provenance
