Physical DescriptionTransparent light green glass; blown; (wrapped fiber covering with printed paper label). Tall, circular shape; small everted lip, spreading non-uniformly to a rounded shoulder, decreasing in size toward the base; pointed kick [probably] with rough pontil mark; the exterior (below the shoulder) covered with a fiber wrapping, consisting of a bundle of long grass-like fibers, wrapped with a wide leaf to form a long "string" which is wrapped concentrically around the bottle, held in place by long straps tied to the top and bottom; a wide fiber footring attached at the base; the bottom covered by overlapping strands of grass-like fiber; a fragmentary printed paper label affixed to the side: with a large coat of arms borne by a double-headed eagle at the center, a merchant's mark at the upper left, a fragmentary oval containing an unidentifiable mark above the number "2", and the inscription "ROSOLI DI/CHIMEL/FABRICA/D'ANTONIO HAA.../...L USODI/[TR]IESTE." below, all within a decorative border.Provenance
