Physical DescriptionPaperweight with 18th Century People. Colorless lead glass; painted gold-colored metal, pewter; cast; cast and painted metal, sheet metal. Low, domed, circular, ovoid lens, set on top of and cemented to a shallow sheet metal cup of pewter (?), enclosing a cast scene of men and women in 18th-century dress, from left to right, a woman in a gray dress; a seated man, wearing a blue coat and short brown pants; a seated woman wearing a copper-colored dress and green skirt; a man with his head in her lap, and kneeling on a cushion, wearing a dark gold coat and yellow pants; a man wearing a copper- colored coat and gray vest; and a woman wearing a gold-colored dress and pink skirt; with a landscape, trees and buildings in the background; paper label inscribed "170" in ink.Provenance
