Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, with transparent pale blue striations; stained dark brown/black fire-clay; glass: pressed in the fire clay opening, cut, polished; clay: hand-built, fired, stained with oxides. Mixed-media sculpture in the form of a U within a U; (a) solid, somewhat irregular, rectangular piece of glass with flattened sides (from molding as well as partial grinding and polishing) and one end with rounded point, overall blue striations and minute bubbles, glass fits into hole in clay with flat square end towards exterior and flush with clay surface; (b) solid square-U shape clay form with flat sides and irregular edges, straight inside walls of U flare out slightly towards solid end, top and bottom sides of solid end are slightly extended, at center of solid end is a small square-shaped opening, extending from the opening (through the interior of the large U) a smaller U-shaped trough (with open end facing up) runs from hole through the length of the large U, walls of smaller trough slope downward so that it becomes part of the larger sculpture base; overall porous surface and dark stain; engraved in script, mid-way on top polished surface of glass: "Polyák '92".
