Physical DescriptionOval Plate. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Shallow, oval shape, with upturned rim and ground edge; gently curving sides with shallow center; engraved on the reverse, a female hippocamp in the center, with curled fishes tail, animal forelegs, and human upper torso, holding a large scallop shell in her left hand, containing a crown and pearls, and with cattails and leaves, a scarf, held in her right hand, billows overhead; the sides with delicate scrollwork band, with shells, dolphins, flowers, and foliage; the logo "JIL / M" in ligature engraved at the center, bottom, of the border; polished, flat base.
