Physical DescriptionTransparent dark blue lead glass; blown, gilt, painted. Ovoid body; straight, cylindrical neck with small, triangular pouring spout; rounded shoulders, sides tapered to base; bottom with slight kick and rough pontil mark; applied loop flat-strap handle; crimped and curled at the lower terminal; painted gilding with black painted highlights: gold band below the rim, with pairs of alternating slanted oval reserves, with foliate swags below; inscribed "Wm_ & Ann. Smith" below the spout; shield on the front, divided into four quarters, with "farmer's arms" in black: a sheaf of wheat in the upper left, and tools in the other three, the crest or plow, with foliate branches at either side; fragmentary floral sprays at either side of the body.
