Physical DescriptionWineglass. Colorless, probably non-lead glass; free-blown with cut and transparent enamel decoration. Deep bowl with upper two-thirds straight and slightly spreading and lower third cut slightly ogee with nine round-top panels rising from row of diamond facets, applied and cut hexagonal slender inverted-baluster stem, and sloping circular foot with circlet of petal flutes on base and at center three-quarter circlet of tiny petals; painted decoration in lustrous bluish-red: on obverse, cherub leading a little dog, tree at right, and at bottom inscribed "aller anfang ist schwer" (the first step is all the difficulty), tiny flower and each side; on reverse, rose; tops of panels outlined; circlet of rings on top of foot.
