Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless glass, with yellow green fracture; pigment and gold leaf applied to upper surface of one piece of glass, gold leaf decorated with stylus; second piece of glass fused to upper surface of first; after annealing, edges of object ground to make circular disk. Medallion: circular, consisting of two fused pieces of glass, one above other, with gilded and painted decoration between them; upper surface slightly concave, lower surface slightly convex. Gilded and painted decoration consists of gold leaf sailing ship on light blue painted ocean, surrounded by gold leaf border with serrated outer edge which almost reaches edge of medallion; ship has single mast with rigging and one large, square sail shown crisscrossed by vertical and horizontal lines, hull has high stem and stern, with planks indicated by horizontal lines.Provenance
