Physical DescriptionTile. Transparent deep yellowish brown (base) and almost colorless (overlay); gold foil. Cast; decorated with foil, cased. Tile: square. Upper surface decorated with gold foil protected by very thin colorless overlay. Foil originally covered entire surface, but parts were removed to create gold pattern on dark background. Pattern consists of four congruent isosceles triangles, one in each corner; base of each triangle touches base of two adjoining triangles, creating square compartment with sides at 45 degrees to sides of tile; at center of compartment, small gold square with sides parallel to sides of compartment; between each corner of square and corresponding corner of compartment are two gold isosceles triangles; inner, larger triangle has apex touching or almost touching corner of square and ends of base touching edges of compartment; outer, smaller triangle has apex touching or nearly touching midpoint of base of larger triangle and ends of base touching edges of compartment. Sides of tile are smooth and taper slightly. Lower surface is rough, with brown granules adhering.Provenance
