Physical DescriptionColorless, with gold, blue, deep blue, deep green, matte silver, pale blue mottled with silver, red, reddish orange, pink, matte pink, and matte orange paint; frame is gold; glass, acrylic paint, with wood frame; painted, with hard edges made by masking; framed. Panel in frame. Panel: square. Painted with symmetrical architectural design with angular forms and straight edges, set in monochrome green "landscape" with, at horizon, row of thirteen contiguous gold triangles of different shapes and sizes, beneath monochrome blue "sky". At center, occupying foreground, pavement of alternating gold and deep blue trapezoidal tiles which together create effect of ten rows of rectangular tiles receding into middle distance; on each side of pavement, two simple pillar-like forms with rectangular imposts, shown in modified perspective, with taller pillars in foreground; each pillar has pink long side and orange short side and impost with pink top, reddish orange long side and red short side. At end of pavement, placed centrally, broad yellow base supporting silver plinth-like form surmounted by silver-blue isosceles triangle, also on yellow base. Signature in red on bottom left gold tile: "BENITO / LAREN / 87". Frame: rectangular; front and sides gilded and back covered with brown paper; also on back, triangular metal loop for suspension and eight small metal catches to secure panel.
