Physical DescriptionColorless, with yellow, white, reddish orange, deep green, deep blue pink, and gold paint; frame is black; glass and acrylic paint, with wood frame; painted, with hard edges made by masking; framed. Panel in frame. Panel: rectangular. Painted with female and small animal (dog?), reduced to angular forms with straight edges, on background split horizontally into two equal parts, yellow above and white below. Female stand at center, her head represented by detached, elongated reddish orange hexagon, her arms by two deep blue five-sided areas, and her body and dress by irregular green and deep blue form that has V-neck, tapers to waist, then expands to hips and descends to floor in three flounces, with pink bow at waist and serrated pink fringe at bottom. Animal stands at lower left corner, facing right, its head represented by detached gold kite-shaped element, its body by rectangle containing six red, blue, and green squares, its legs by two narrow gold triangles, and its tail by one gold triangle. Red signature in lower right corner: "LAREN", with upper part of R shown solid. Frame: rectangular. Plain, with front and sides painted with black enamel and back covered with black paper; also on back, triangular metal loop for suspension and five small catches to secure panel.Provenance
